We understand that going to the dentist can be a stressful time for some patients, and at FADC Dental Group, we have solutions in place to help with this.
This form of sedation involves taking a prescription pill – commonly Valium - one to two hours before attending the clinic. The patient will feel relaxed and tired during treatment, but will respond to the dentist's questions and requests. It can also be used along with Penthrox, but you'll need to arrange transportation to and from the clinic if you choose this method.
Also called 'laughing gas,' this is the most traditional form of dental sedation and is a highly effective and safe treatment. It creates a euphoric, alert state of mind while numbing the body, quickly recovering afterwards.
Penthrox™ or methoxyflurane is a revolutionary inhaled pain relief product that provides immediate relief without anaesthesia. Penthrox helps patients feel relaxed, and the effects wear off quickly.
IV sedation allows patients to remain conscious during treatment, although they'll remember little afterwards. A fully qualified medical doctor must administer it and patients should ensure they have someone to take them home later, as the drug takes time to wear off.
IV sedation is also being used by people wishing to accomplish lengthy or complex procedures in one visit that would generally require several appointments. Chat to our team for more information on this.
